Sarah placed her lunchbox on her desk before going outside for morning break. When she came back, her lunchbox was still there, but her sandwich was gone. There were crumbs on her desk and a small puddle of water near her drink bottle.
Sarah noticed that the classroom window was wide open. She also saw muddy paw prints on the windowsill and on her desk. Outside, she could hear birds chirping loudly in the trees.
Tom, who sat next to Sarah, was reading his book quietly. "I didn't see anything," he said. "I was reading the whole time." His book was open to the same page as before break.
