Describe engagement with texts and meaning, using the focus areas you select and your observations of the learner.
For teachers and school teams · Learners with complex learning needs
Turn what you notice every day into clear reports for whānau. TeacherGPT’s ENZC pathway helps you draft comments that reflect each learner’s participation, communication and learning, grounded in your observations.

An example of an ENZC subject report. Your observations shape the narrative, next learning steps and support at home. Every section is editable.
Recognise the learning you see
Learning can take many forms: joining a familiar activity, making a choice, maintaining a skill or using it in a different context. The Expanded New Zealand Curriculum supports teaching for learners with complex learning needs alongside the NZC’s English and Mathematics & Statistics learning areas.
Bring the detail that matters to your report: what the learner did, the support they used and the setting in which it happened. TeacherGPT helps you put those observations into language families can understand.

Choose from ENZC learning focus areas grouped by strand or element and learning profile. Select what is relevant across profiles, while keeping the learner’s school year as separate context.
Describe engagement with texts and meaning, using the focus areas you select and your observations of the learner.
Capture how the learner participates in writing and expresses ideas, including the tools and support involved.
Bring together observations of mathematical learning in activities and routines that are meaningful to the learner.
Recognise communication through speech, AAC, gesture, signing or other methods reflected in your observations.
Selecting a practice records a learning focus. Your teacher observations provide the evidence for statements about learning and progress.
Add observations before generating comments, so the draft has concrete learning to describe.
Select relevant focus areas across learning profiles. Filtering the list keeps the selections you have already made.
ENZC subject reports focus on observations, next steps and support at home, without proficiency ratings, SMART percentages or progress graphs.
Refine the wording and download PDFs for a subject, a full student report or your reporting group.

Your knowledge of each learner shapes every report.
For one teacher or your whole team
Start with your own TeacherGPT account and one learner’s report. You can save drafts as you gather observations and return to refine the wording.
School accounts offer staff access, shared reporting instructions and additional school-configured report sections to fit your team’s approach.
TeacherGPT’s ENZC pathway supports teachers reporting on learners with complex learning needs in mainstream and specialist settings. Individual teachers can start with their own account, and school teams can explore a school account for shared reporting instructions and additional report sections.
TeacherGPT supports Reading, Writing, Maths, and Oral Language and Communication in its ENZC reporting pathway. Student records can use school years 0–13. School year provides context for the report; it is separate from a learner’s learning profile and is not used as an attainment benchmark.
Filter the learning focus areas by learning profile and select the practices relevant to your learner. You can select across profiles, and changing the filter keeps your selections. Profiles guide the choice of focus areas; they are not grades or a ladder that learners must move through.
Select relevant learning focus areas and add teacher observations describing what you have seen, including the context and support involved. Observations are required to generate ENZC comments: selecting a practice identifies a focus, rather than proving achievement. You can save an unfinished draft and return to it, or write the report yourself.
The ENZC subject reports use narrative observations, next learning steps and support at home. They omit proficiency ratings, SMART percentages and progress graphs. You can review and edit each section, then download individual subject reports, full student reports or reports in bulk as PDFs.
The Expanded New Zealand Curriculum is a supporting resource used alongside the NZC. TeacherGPT helps you draft reports within your school’s process. You bring the evidence and professional judgement, check the wording, and decide what to share with whānau.
Bring the learning into focus
Start with one learner. Bring your observations and shape a report that reflects their strengths, participation and next steps.
Narrative:
Sam uses a communication board to make choices during familiar classroom routines. During shared reading this term, Sam selected a picture to request a favourite story on several occasions, with time to respond and support from a familiar adult. Sam also used gesture to invite a classmate to join an activity. These observations show how Sam participates and shares preferences with others.
